Eastern Suburbs Overview

The Eastern Suburbs of Rivervale, Burswood, Ascot, Bayswater, Maylands, Bassendean are all located on the edge of the Swan River and within 10 km to the Perth CBD.

Burswood is home to the Crown Perth Complex and Optus Stadium voted Most Beautiful Sports Facility in the World 2019, with views of the picturesque Swan River and Perth City this world-class Stadium hosts a variety of sports and entertainment events.

Ascot is a suburb approximately 10km northeast of the Perth CBD, covering a narrow strip of land along the southern bank of the Swan River. Previously part of Belmont and Redcliffe the suburb was officially established in 1991 and named after the popular Ascot racecourse, a dominate feature in the area is horseracing.

Belmont located east of the Perth CBD is a mixed-use suburb blending primarily industrial and commercial in the Western precinct of the suburb, whilst the east and north are more residential. The Great Eastern Highway being the major artery to the Perth Airport boasts several motels making it an ideal location for short stay accommodation.

Carlisle is located east of the Perth CBD and was originally called Bickford, a name chosen by Peet & Co until 1919 when ratepayers elected to change the name to Carlisle. Most of the streets in Carlisle are tree lined and form the traditional formation of the planning style of Perth. The Perth- Armadale line runs through the area and is services by the Carlisle and Oats Street Train Stations.

Cloverdale is located 10km east of the Perth CBD and is almost completely residential, however its boundaries take in the commercial and civic side of Belmont Forum Shopping Centre and City of Belmont’s council office, library, and museum as well as popular Faulkner Park. The suburb is well connected to the rest of Perth’s metro area by Leach Highway, Tonkin Highway, Abernethy Road and Great Eastern Highway.
